It’s so satisfying to make something with your own hands, isn’t it? Especially when you’re trying something new for the first time.

I’m sharing with you the wonderful @artistique_arts atelier where I got to create this unique coffee table during an evening workshop (and a glass of 🥂), inspired by Monet’s colours using resin and real flowers.

If you’re looking for a fun and creative evening out with your teens or friends, check out the workshops offered at this atelier in the 15th arrondissement.

One of our go-to art museums in Paris with kids 🎨

I often recommend @museeorangerie to families because it just works. It’s small and very manageable with children, which means you can actually enjoy the art without feeling rushed. The museum is best known for Monet’s Water Lilies, displayed in light-filled oval rooms designed for quiet, immersive viewing — even kids tend to slow down here. Alongside Monet, you’ll also find works by Impressionist and modern artists like Renoir, Cézanne, Picasso, and Matisse, giving children a gentle introduction to different styles without overload.

We usually spend an hour in the galleries, and then make a beeline downstairs to the Family Space room. It’s a dedicated area designed especially for kids, with hands-on, art-inspired activities. My kids loved building, solving art-themed puzzles, making paper water lilies, flipping through books in the reading corner, and relaxing on the soft cushions. They happily played here for around an hour, which says everything.

📅 Good to know for parents:
The Family Space isn’t open every day. It’s available on weekends, bank holidays, and during French school holidays in Paris, so it’s worth checking before you go.

🎟️ We visited for free on the 1st Sunday of the month. If you’re new to Paris or visiting, many national museums are free on the first Sunday of each month. You still need to book a time slot in advance, and it can be busy but with a bit of planning, it’s a wonderful way to explore museums as a family for free.

If you’re looking for a kid-friendly art museum in Paris that feels calm and genuinely welcoming for families, the Orangerie is always a lovely choice.

Weekend in Ghent Recap!

We had a wonderful weekend in Ghent with kids. It only took 2 hours from Paris to get there, with a quick train connection in Brussels. We stayed @pillowshotels and can’t imagine a nicer place to stay in Ghent.

We wandered the cobbled streets, exploring St Bavo’s Cathedral with a kid-friendly augmented reality tour that brought to life the story of an important painting hanging there. Turns out it’s considered one of the most important paintings in Western art!

Then we were off cruising the canals on a guided boat tour, floating past colourful medieval buildings and the towering Gravensteen Castle. Of course, we couldn’t resist waffles, chocolate, and more chocolate.

The kids loved spotting characters, colours, and hidden details on Werregarenstraatje, the graffiti street - a refreshing contrast to the medieval architecture elsewhere in the city.

Then, there was a treasure hunt for a dragon’s egg in the Belfry tower, and finally a fun browse through the local markets lining the canals.

Four years of living in Paris… and I finally went

Four years of living in Paris… and I finally went inside the Hôtel de la Marine. Sitting proudly on Place de la Concorde, I must have passed it hundreds of times — always admiring the façade, never stepping inside.

Turns out, @hoteldelamarine is a former royal administration building from the 18th century, restored into a museum with some of the most beautiful interiors in Paris.

I visited the Appartements des Intendants, wandered through gilded salons, and stepped onto the loggia with one of those views that quietly stops you in your tracks.

And right now is a perfect time to go because it’s hosting the Dynastic Jewels exhibition 💎 Historic crowns, tiaras and legendary gemstones once worn by Catherine the Great, Joséphine, Empress Eugénie and Queen Victoria. If you have teens who are into jewellery, this is such a nice exhibition to visit.

If you live in Paris or you’re visiting and want something special, this one’s worth it 🤍

It’s January in Paris and we’re all in with the Fr

It’s January in Paris and we’re all in with the French tradition of celebrating Epiphany 👑 and eating multiple “galettes des rois” throughout the whole month of January. It’s so delicious!

Hidden inside each galette is a tiny surprise, called a “fève” (literally, a “bean”). Whoever finds it gets to wear the golden crown and is declared king or queen for the day. To keep things fair, the youngest kid hides under the table while an adult cuts the slices and assigns them. The lucky winner proudly wears the crown for the rest of the meal.

I took a baking class last year to learn how to make it, and it’s actually fairly easy to make a galette des rois, so I made two again this year. I did “cheat” and bought the puff pastry from the always reliable @picardsurgeles, but it’s good quality and saves time 😀

We do a tasting party every year, and this year we bought three more galettes from @pleincoeur_official, made by the amazing French pastry chef @maxime.frederic. Being the Best Pastry Chef in the World 2025 is a formidable title, and his artisanal neighbourhood bakery in the 17th arrondissement in Paris is one to visit, not just for galettes des rois but also for yummy breads and everyday pastries.

3. Head into indoor play areas @latetedanslesnuages_officiel, @climb_up_paris and @hapik_escalade

4. Escape into a cozy library or bookstore like @labnf, @shakespeareandcoparis and @smithandsonparis

5. Cozy up with hot chocolate @chocolatchapon or @ritzparislecomptoir

🥐 Breakfasts at the neighbourhood patisseries
🛳️ River cruise on river Seine
💯 Go up the Eiffel Tower and, if you can’t get tickets, head to the top of either Galeries Lafayette or Printemps department stores for a FREE view of Paris from their terraces
⛵️Jardin du Luxembourg - rent a small wooden sailboat for kids to push around the pond, head to the playground/sand pit, or watch a puppet show at the Marionette Theatre. While you’re there go spotting 20 statues of famous French women in the park.
🚂 Take a choo-choo train around Montmartre, past Sacre-Cour Basilica and observe artists at Place du Tertre
🎡 Head to Jardin d’Acclimatation, the Parisian
amusement park
👧 Jump on and run around Buren columns in
Palais Royal
🧸 Go inside Galerie Vivienne, stop for lunch at Le Grand Colbert and buy Parisian toys at Si Tu Veux and Pain d’Épices.
🎨 Visit a family-friendly museum like Museé d’Orsay, Orangerie or La Cite des Enfants.
