There are many French language schools in Paris, but I am here to introduce you to a gem among them – Lutece Langue. Two years ago, when I first arrived in Paris, I sought the advice of seasoned expats who had become fluent in French. Many of them highly recommended Lutece Langue. I decided to experience it for myself and have since become a fervent advocate of the school. I now share my recommendation with everyone who arrives in Paris and dreams of learning French.
Where is it?
The school is situated in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. It’s just a 2-minute walk from Solferino metro and 5 minutes from the renowned Musée d’Orsay.
How many students per class?
With only 3 to 8 students per class, you’re guaranteed a personalized and engaging learning experience.
How many hours per week?
The school offers a variety of flexible options, both onsite and online, to accommodate your schedule. You can choose from Standard classes (7.5 hours per week) to the Super Intensive classes (30 hours per week plus a mix of workshops, private lessons, evening or Saturday classes). I opted for the intensive 15-hour per week program, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. It costs €270 per week.
What’s my level?
After registering, the school sends you a written test to complete and offers a phone-based oral assessment to determine your level. The tests ensure you’re placed in the class that best suits your abilities.
Every Friday, the teacher hands out a small test paper to test the week’s material. It helps with their assessment whether to keep you in the same class or move you up a level.
What sets Lutece Langue apart for me
- Small class size: the classes foster an environment where everyone has the opportunity to actively participate, ask questions, and engage with the teacher
- Flexible start dates: Unlike some language schools, you don’t have to wait for a specific course start date. At Lutece Langue, you can join a class on any Monday throughout the year, making it incredibly convenient. You can choose to book one week or longer, as you like.
- Great teachers: each brings their unique teaching style to the classroom, ensuring that learning is not only practical but also enjoyable.
- Emphasis on speaking French: strong focus on conversational practice and teaching French in French, allowing you to use the language rather than just passively listening.
- On-the-go corrections: I liked that the teachers addressed common mistakes made in class and corrected on the go.
- Thematic workshops: you can take a deep-dive into Conversation, Writing & Grammar or Pronunciation
In conclusion, if you’re looking for an outstanding French language school in the heart of Paris, Lutece Langue is the perfect choice. I wholeheartedly recommend Lutece Langue for an immersive language learning experience.
